It’s the summer of Go Gig and no date has been more highly anticipated than July 1st – the date when the government would announce the Notice of Funds Available (NOFA) regarding the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP). The process was kicked off yesterday when Joe Biden, along with the Secretary of Commerce, Secretary of Agriculture, and the Chairman of the FCC were in Erie, Pennsylvania to talk about “broadband investments”. But the really exciting news was that the NTIA broadband grants home web page was modified, the NOFA explained the grant guidelines and everything is ready to go!
Here at WiscNet we are carefully examining the details of the guidelines in order to get to work on the Go Gig grant proposal. We quickly realized that the timeframe is shorter than we had anticipated – applications are being accepted between July 14 and August, 14 – and are anticipating a very busy few weeks. We will likely have to push up some of our follow-up meetings in order to respond to the tight timeline!
While the complete NOFA is 121 pages long, here are a few resources we are finding helpful in sorting through the details:
- BTOP Fact Sheet
- BIP Fact Sheet
- Internet2 NOFA Summary Presentation
- Go Gig!/BB Stimulus Overview Presentation
- Broadband USA
- Full Notice of Funds Available
